Dr. Maryam is the Acting consultant and has attained her Ph.D Degree from King’s College, United Kingdom. She is the winner of The British Association of Dermatology Award for discovering and recognition of the new aspect of mycological causes of tinea capitis in children. Dr. Al-Saeed has over 17 years of extensive clinical experience treating all types of common and rare skin diseases including: eczema and other skin allergies, acne vulgaris, psoriasis, skin infections (fungal, viral and bacterial), hair and nails disorders, vitiligo, acanthosis nigricans, birth marks and skin cancers.

 

She compeleted her 5 years of residency in Clinical training from St. John’s Institute of Dermatology at St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, UK. Dr. Maryam Al-Saeed has 3 years experience in supervising and teaching MSc and PhD students at St. John’s Institute of Dermatology. She has contributed to several publications and scientific journals in the field of dermatology, mycology and molecular biology. Dr. Al-Saeed has also presented some of the leading topics in Dermatology at both national and international conferences.

She is a Specialist in different areas such as Advanced medical, Laser, Cosmetic and Meso- therapies for resistant cases with; hair loss, acne scars, melasma, other hyper-pigmentation disorders, stretch marks, fat depositions and superficial veins disorders and signs of ageing.

 

Dr. Maryam has experience in performing an extensive general skin check up for early detection and follow up of cases with melanoma and non melanoma skin cancers. Her clinical practice also include; cryo-electrosurgery, phototherapy, CO2 therapy, chemical and other types of peeling, and filler injections; for the treatment of warts, corns, skin tags, actinic keratosis, facial wrinkles, scars and skin repair and rejuvenation.  

 

She also provides special appointments for those who are interested to know the nature composition and physiology of their skin, their skin needs, and how to take care of it. In addition, laser hair removal sessions are performed under Dr. Maryam’s supervision using latest techniques.

Medcare Hospital hosted ‘World Diabetes Day’ for the community of UAE on 14th of November

As part of the global campaign, Medcare Hospital organized a special ‘World Diabetes Day” on 14th of November to all its visitors in an effort to create awareness of the disease.  The program consisted of Free Blood Sugar testing from 9 AM till 4 PM followed by a seminar on Diabetes by Dr. Mohammed Salah Mohammed and a few giveaways were distributed to the patients as well. Additionally, in support of the World Diabetes cause all Staff at the Medcare Hospital wore badges and armbands with the World Diabetes Day logo while some even wore blue dresses to express their solidarity to the event.

Medcare Hospital Team visits Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre on World Children’s Day

As part of Medcare Hospital’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program, on 23rd November, 2009, Medcare Hospital Team visited the children at the Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre. This initiative was done purely asper the generous directives of the Senior Management team from Medcare Hospital to spread awareness to the Community regarding Children’s Day which was on 20th November 2009. However, since this date was a Friday, the Medcare team scheduled the program on 23rd November 2009 to suit the convenience of the Centre.

On the day, the Medcare team arrived at 10:30am where they had a brief meeting and interaction with the Head Teacher – Janette S Graham and the Senior Therapist Team from Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre.

Dr Lubab - Pediatric Dentist from Medcare Hospital consented to conduct a check up in the future upon mutual agreement for all the students of the centre when necessary. She noted that an intervention by a Pediatric Dentist would be very beneficial for some of the students she had met. It was a learning opportunity for her to understand the background of how special needs children are trained and prepared to become a part of the mainstream of society.

Dr Ayman, Consultant Neonatologist, Medcare Hospital, commented, "It is necessary to bring in awareness regarding the Centre to practicing Doctors and mainly other Neonatologists in UAE regarding the activities undertaken by centres like Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre and similar entities. Such measures will be helpful for them to advice the parents of a newborn baby with special needs, where to send them for occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy etc with a specialized focus on early intervention in infants and small children".

The Medcare team was also taken for a brief tour of the facility by the Head Teacher and Senior Management Team. Additionally they were deputed in each available class room for 10 – 15 minutes to spend time with the Children and participate in regular programs under the supervision of the Class Teacher who showcased some of the work done by the students as well.
